Taste of Tuscany Seasoning
Our Taste of Tuscany seasoning was inspired by the beautiful Tuscany region of Italy. The area is well known for its light cooking style utilizing fresh local ingredients. The Tuscany cuisine tends to be much less fatty and healthier than other areas of Italy.
This area also has a reputation for wonderful fresh baked artisan bread, olive oils and of course let’s not forget wine. Meals in Italy are often served with multiple courses and the Tuscan region is no different. The meals begin with some fresh bread accompanied by the finest quality olive oil and the right seasoning resulting in an appetizer that will rival a delightful dinner in a family home on the coast of Tuscany.
Where to use Taste of Tuscany
To make a classic bread dipping oil, mix 3 tablespoons Taste of Tuscany seasoning with 1/2 cup of your favorite olive oil. You can easily adjust this with more or less seasoning to suite your tastes. Best results occur when you mix the seasoning and olive oil and let the flavors meld for 20 to 30 minutes before serving.
Taste of Tuscany is also great as a sprinkle on salads and sandwiches. Our favorite is to add it to a Caprese salad. The refreshing flavors of the fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil go great with this seasoning blend.
It is also a great addition to salad dressing. We’ve used this seasoning to make a zesty vinegar and oil dressing. Simply combine 3 tablespoons of Taste of Tuscany seasoning with 2/3 cups olive oil and 1/3 cup red wine vinegar. Normally we would use balsamic, but in this instance balsamic is a little overpowering. This dressing can also be used as a quick, light marinade for chicken, fish or pork.
